As a church, let us be in constant prayer for our pastors:
If you have a prayer request that you would like the church to pray for you about, please email Dan Jun (email@example.com).
Prayed by Tyson Janney
Humble us with the weight and the depth of our sins. Make us mindful of the fact that you saved us for a reason, and that our salvation was not cheap. And it's not as if we have other options, Lord! It is your saving grace, and grace alone, that prevents us from following the same selfish, proud paths that we started on; paths that would lead us to an eternity apart from you. We ask your forgiveness, God, with the desperation and the urgency of those who know that they have only one path to safety.
But how forgiving you are, God! How merciful are your disciplines, and how delightful are your laws! Lord, it is only when we have been slaves to our own whims and lusts that we can truly love your law. And when your overpowering grace scours our sins away, it fulfills that law and lets us love it, and you, its creator. We praise you, God, for your plans for our lives. Even when our sin and suffering drives us away from you, more often than not it is so that we learn, again, how necessary is your Spirit for every waking moment of our lives. Your ways are better than our ways, Lord. Your glory is blinding, your love warmer even than our mothers'. Be glorified by us today, and in this coming week.
Thank you, Lord, for this church. Thank you for its people, in all their imperfections. Thank you for their fears, which you will someday give them courage to confront. Thank you for their weaknesses, which will teach them to lean on you completely. Thank you for their sufferings, which will push them to see that there is nothing in the Creation so worthy of adoration as its Creator. Thank you also for your daily blessings; the ministration of your Holy spirit, the comfort and the exhortation of your Word. Thank you for fellowship, for community with each other and with you, and for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
God, please help us to keep growing up. Make us mindful of the fact that as we age, so does our sin nature. We are not children anymore, with the sins of children. We need more and more of your grace every day. Help us to drink deeply from the fountain of your Spirit. Fill us with love for you, and help us to translate that love into actions that bless those around us and glorify you. Be present among us, Lord. Help us to live our lives so that others make much of our God.
